  • 1. The deadly war in America

  • Conversations around the opioid epidemic are more mainstream now than ever, but on Thursday, March 29, the Centers for Disease Control Prevention reported alarming news: opioid overdose deaths continue to rise.

  • Currently, opioid overdose kills 115 Americans each day. That's over 41,000 a year. To put this in perspective, in one year more Americans die from opioids than the entire Iraq, Afghanistan and Gulf War combined.

  • Something to chew on when your parent spidey senses start triggering...

  • Talk about it. Tekulve Jackson, a clinical director for Alpine Recovery Lodge, said parents do a disservice to their children when they don't start the conversations about drugs at a young age. And, he warns, "being vague is not effective."
