15 things all people-pleasers can relate to

If you relate to at least half of these, then you’re a people pleaser.
  • You live to make others happy if you're a people pleaser. If this sounds like you, then you can relate to a lot of these:

  • 1. You find it hard hard to say no

  • "Yes" is easier said than done.

  • 2. You always help out (even if you don't want to)

  • You're there when anyone needs help packing for a move or simply needs someone to talk to. Basically, this means you're everyone's best friend (and that's an upside to being a people-pleaser). Unfortunately, this isn't always reciprocated and can be one-sided.

  • 3. Your honest opinion isn't always completely honest

  • You don't want to hurt their feelings. It's only a stretch of the truth, right?

  • 4. You give compliments (a little too much)

  • You always try to find something to compliment about someone else, especially if they've complimented you. And sometimes you just give compliments because you want them to like you. Either way, you give a lot of compliments (and that's not a bad thing).

  • 5. You love receiving compliments

  • When someone compliments your shoes, that comment will be on your mind for the rest of the week.

  • 6. You take on 90 percent of the work in a group setting

  • And it really stinks. You probably have a secret hatred for all of your teammates, but will never show it because you're just too nice.

  • 7. You take the blame

  • Even if it's not your fault, you take the blame. But let's be honest, this is what's really going on in your head:

  • 8. You make sacrifices

  • You prioritize the needs and wants of others above your own. Your selfless personality draws people to you, but don't forget to take some time for yourself. When you take care of yourself, you'll be better able to take care of others.

  • 9. You don't like asking for help

  • You don't want to be a bother, but you'll reach out if it's an emergency. You really dread it, though.

  • 10. You push through annoying conversations

  • Whether it is a stranger on the bus or a family member, you bear through the most unbearable conversations. You think that maybe if you just smile and nod they will stop talking about their woes.

  • 11. You loan money (even when you know they won't pay it back)

  • Your friend asked for $5 when they already owe you $30. You loan them the money anyway because they're your friend. They'd do it for you too, right?

  • 12. You hold back your anger

  • You probably find yourself using the phrase "It's OK" when people apologize to you. You'd rather shrug it off than create more conflict.

  • 13. You feel like a taxi service

  • Even if it's entirely out of your way, you will pick up and drop off your friends when they ask.

  • 14. You share your food

  • People mooch off your fries because they know you won't mind. Well, at least they think you don't mind. However, you're always willing to share with your sweetheart.

  • 15. You dread the phrase "We need one more volunteer"

  • Just look away and try to avoid their gaze. If you can't see them, maybe they won't see you.

  • Being a people-pleaser isn't all that bad. You have a kind heart and selfless personality that brings you many close friends. You spend a lot of time making others happy, so don't forget to make yourself happy, too.
