Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds reveal what they do to keep their marriage healthy

Admit it, all #marriagegoals are to be as good at marriage as Ryan and Blake.
  • Ryan Reynolds fell in love with Blake Lively during a "When Harry Met Sally" style date. After becoming friends on the set of Green Lantern, Ryan and Blake always tried to set each other up. Ryan described one such date to Today, "We went on a double date. She was on a date with another guy, and I was on a date with another girl. That was the most awkward date [from their perspective] probably because we were just like fireworks coming across."

  • After realizing they should quit setting each other up and just date each other instead, these two has been the most adorable couple that has ever existed (with two adorable kids to boot!). Pretty sure we all want to be exactly them. Unfortunately, Ryan isn't too forthcoming on teaching us how to reach our #marriagegoals.

  • Although Ryan won't out rightly offer marriage advice, he's let his secrets to a Pinterest-worthy love slip a few times. Here's a list of things you can learn about marriage from this crazy gorgeous power couple.

  • 1. Be friends first

  • These two developed a strong relationship as friends before they ever started dating and it's that relationship that keeps them going strong. In marriage it can be easy to forget this fundamental element of your relationship but as Blake told Elle, being friends is the secret to happiness:

  • "What I appreciate about our relationship is that he really is - he's my friend, first and foremost still, you know? Not just in our history but in everyday life, he is my friend first. And I think that's the secret to happiness. I don't know! I don't know the secret to happiness, but the secret to my happiness."

  • So, take it from Blake: prioritize the friendship part of your marriage. If you stay friends, it will be easier to stay spouses.

  • 2. Gaze into each other's eyes

  • Most of the time, when you see a photo of these two, they aren't looking at the camera. They are too busy getting lost in each other's eyes. Studies show that staring into someone's eyes deepens connection, so it's no wonder these two are so in love. Make sure you pause and let yourself get lost in your spouse's eyes regularly.

  • 3. Bake for him

  • Blake baked her way into her man's heart. People began suspecting that Ryan had a crush on co-star Blake after he ranted about her amazing baking skills.

  • Ryan told E Online, "Oh, she's quite a baker. There's nothing she can't cook, that's sort of the problem...aren't actors supposed to be out causing massive amounts of bad press and trouble? But this girl's in a kitchen all day, baking for our crew on our movie - everything you can imagine. I mean she had soufflés coming! What's weird is she would live 30 minutes away but when she brought stuff it was still warm. I think there's an Easy Bake Oven in her car."

  • So, take the hint, bake your man some goodies!

  • 4. Be proud of your spouse's accomplishments

  • Both Ryan and Blake are individually successful humans and they support each other's efforts and accomplishments. This can be sometimes challenging when working in the same industry because one may receive an honor while the other is overlooked. However, it's obvious that they view a win for one as a win for both.

  • Use the word "we" when referring to your accomplishments to remind yourself that your promotion isn't only a result of your efforts but of your husband's. Support your spouse no matter what.

  • 5. Cherish every moment you have together

  • With their busy lives of filming and promoting films all over the world, it can be challenging to have quality time together, but these two make sure to make the most of the little time they have. Ryan told ET Online, "I've done things where I've like flown halfway across the world to just see my wife for a day because you've got to do that."

  • Even if you have to make personal sacrifices, make sure you prioritize time with your spouse.

  • 7. Help each other be your best self

  • Speaking to his wife, Ryan said, "You make everything better, absolutely everything in my life better. You've made me the father of my dreams when I thought I only had fun uncle potential," People reported.

  • One of the best parts of marriage is the opportunity to grow and to help your partner grow into the very best version you can be. Encourage the best parts of your spouse to shine.
