Ready for a new you? Here are 13 steps to help you find … well, you.
  • Everyone at some point in their life has wished for a new day, another chance, a new love and a fresh start. Moving on is one of the toughest things people have to do in life, but it is also one of the most rewarding.

  • Below are 13 ways to help you create a fresh new start today:

  • 1. End toxic relationships

  • To help you create a fresh new start, eliminate relationships with people who try to control you, disregard your boundaries, take without giving, lie to you, are always right and degrading.

  • 2. Talk to strangers

  • Take the time to appreciate the unique individuals that cross your path every day. Of the 7 billion individuals that live on this earth, you have the opportunity to see and interact with a select few.

  • 3. Cut your hair

  • CoCo Chanel hit the nail on the head when she said, "A woman who cuts her hair is about to change her life."

  • 4. Make a new goal

  • Get out of your comfort zone, you already know what you can experience there. Go beyond the status quo and set a goal you would laugh at and think was impossible.

  • Maybe your goal is to take care of an ant farm, host a monthly book club or learn how to cook a seven course meal. Whatever it may be, set the goal and work toward accomplishing it.

  • 5. Garden

  • Nothing beats the fulfilling energy that comes from planting, nourishing and harvesting food straight from Mother Earth.

  • 6. Hug people

  • Looking for a free way to be happy? Hug people!

  • 7. Define and fulfill your role

  • Figure out who you are and who you want to be. Are you a mother, father, businessman, artist, grandmother or friend? Whatever role you choose to fill, define exactly what that role means to you, outline the steps or ways you can become that ideal and implement those specific steps in your daily life.

  • 8. Be a local tourist

  • Get out and explore your own hometown. Find unique food joints, local traditions, the prettiest flower gardens and the history behind the oldest building in your city. Discover new hiking trails, what kind of trees are in your own backyard and play at every local park within a 20 mile radius. See the beauty in your immediate surroundings.

  • 9. Write a personal mission statement

  • Are you looking to define your purpose and reason for being? Create a personal mission statement, a standard to live by, and act upon it.

  • 10. Master the balance between selflessness and selfishness

  • To create a fresh new start in your life, develop a selfless vs. selfish ratio. It is okay and completely normal to set time aside to place your own needs first. Sometimes it is important to remember that the best way you can take care of others is by taking care of yourself first.

  • 11. Amp up your wardrobe

  • Lighten up, let loose and dress to feel like your new self.

  • Update your closet — get rid of your beige cardigans, blue striped collared shirts and khakis. Be bold and spice up your go-to look with a little flare and unexpected style. You might surprise yourself and gain a little more self-confidence.

  • 12. Cleanse yourself with a new diet

  • Have you ever been upset with yourself for eating poorly? It's the shame you feel from eating that donut for breakfast, chicken nuggets and fries for lunch and the fudge ice cream after dinner. It's the grease, fat and carbs eating at your mind that tends to bring you down and lower your self-esteem.

  • Try cleansing your body by fueling it with healthy foods. Cut back on the carbs, replace your white bread with wheat, eat an apple instead of fruit snacks and drink water instead of soda. Make small and simple changes to help your body feel fueled and focused.

  • 13. Feng shui ... it's a thing

  • It's all about the good vibes, am I right? Mix things up a little, test your skills with a little feng shui.

  • Test this simple principle out! Reorganize your living room or remodel your bedroom. Get out of your comfort zone and see if the different placements of objects tampers or changes the mood in your room.
