Warren and Bonnie, a couple married for nearly 67 years, took to Reddit with the help of their grandson to create an open conversation with users about their keys to a happy marriage and fulfilling life.
The couple met in the 1930’s when Warren went to the local diner where Bonnie worked in hopes to ask her out after her shift. He waited all night for her to get off of work. To prove to her that she was worth the wait, he handed her his car keys and told her not to give them back till she was off of work.
When Bonnie closed down for the night, she tossed his keys to him and drove away without a single word of seeing each other again. Warren was persistent and followed her home, where her angry stepfather telling him to get of his property greeted him. Warren remained determined to win a date despite initial rejection; he continued to visit her at her home until she agreed to go on a date with him.
The couple has since been married for 67 years. Warren served in the U.S. Navy during WWII, and together they have had 6 children, 25 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Together they have built a fulfilling life filled with love and respect.
The couple wanted to share their secrets to marriage success and life-long happiness through the creation of an open forum on Reddit discussion with an “Ask me anything” thread.
